1.0 If a CCE candidate on the first certification attempt does not achieve an overall average passing grade of 80% or does not score at least 70% on any single exam, a second attempt will be allowed after a mandatory wait period of 60 days from the date that the final grade was reported. The passing grade for the second attempt will be an overall average of 80%, having scored at least 70% on all four examinations.
2.0 If a CCE candidate on the second certification attempt does not achieve an overall average passing grade of 80% or does not score at least 70% on any single exam, a third attempt will be allowed after a mandatory wait period of 120 days. During this mandatory wait period of 120 days, the candidate must complete and document at least 10 hours of applicable self-study in the field of computer forensics. This study may be completed in an applicable classroom-training environment or done individually using study material relevant to the field of computer forensics. Documentation of this self-study must be presented to the candidate’s monitor prior to attempting the CCE certification for the third time. The passing grade for the third attempt will be an overall average of 80%, having scored at least 70% on all four examinations.
2.1 All testing attempts including retakes must be sat for in their entirety. This includes retaking the online written exam and all three practical examinations.
3.0 A registration fee of $175 will be charged for the second and each subsequent CCE retake certification attempt.
4.0 If a CCE candidate on the third certification attempt does not achieve an overall average passing grade of 80% or does not score at least 70% on any single exam, no further attempts will be allowed for 1 year. After the 1 year period, the candidate may begin the certification process again, including paying the full CCE registration fee.
